Final Cut!

We now have a final cut of TARA!

On the evening of Thursday 21st we decided that we had the film in front of us. It was done and ready to go! But now, even with the picture locked, we still have a long way to go, to get the film finished and ready for viewing. Over the next month we will be doing all sound post-production and music composition for the film. Much of this has already started even before the picture edit was finished. So that hard work will continue both here - in Ireland - and over in London, with Jay Enticknap and the team.

Some folks have been asking us about why we are doing audio post-production in London and so I always give the same blunt answer "Because here, in the north of Ireland, we are held to ransom by the monopoly on all things film production. We - all local film directors and producers - are charged a fortune for equipment and studio time by most companies and individuals who have their head in the clouds"

In the case of camera equipment we have been lucky enough to work with HD Camera Hire. A new company with their feet firmly on the ground, who have been a fantastic help to us during the production of the film.

There will be a teaser trailer for TARA going up on the site some time soon, so keep checking in!

More soon!

First Cut!

So we have been working through the editing stage of post-production on the film using Final Cut Pro 6. At this point in time we are close to having a solid first cut of the film. By “solid first cut”, I mean this first cut is not the usual rough cut or assembly of the scenes, which you get at this stage of post-production on the average film project. Instead, our first cut of the film has been a more considerate one. We will view the cut at the end of today, take some time out from the edit suite and then return with fresh eyes for our final cut and picture lock. We hope to have a final cut by the end of the week or the start of next week.

Keep checking in!

Good Luck Larry

I just wanted to say a GOOD LUCK to Larry Cowan (TARA - Producer) who has gone off to Africa to help build houses in the north eastern part of the country.

Larry wanted me to thank everyone who sponsored him for the trip. He will be back around mid-October. We are holding off on the Cast & Crew screening, until he is back safe and well.

I will be holding the fort until then.

There will be a post-production update to follow, so keeping checking in!
